Reconnect

12–18, homeless or at risk

Reconnect supports young people aged 12–18 who are homeless or at risk, using early intervention and flexible, family-focused support to stabilise housing, strengthen relationships, and improve engagement with education, work, and the community. Young people and or their families may self-refer or be referred from a range of sources.

Transitional Assistance Program (TAP)

16–25, homeless or at risk

TAP supports young people aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk by providing coordinated case management, practical assistance, and help securing safe, affordable housing while building skills for independent living.

The Victorian statewide homelessness line answers at any hour on 1800 825 955. Free, 24 hours. The call is directed to the nearest service. After hours it goes to Salvation Army Crisis Services.

This program provides tailored, creative support for young people with complex needs or high-risk behaviours, helping them and their families improve wellbeing and strengthen the home environment.

Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre answers at any hour on 1800 015 188. Free, 24 hours. Not free from a mobile, and you can ask them to call you back.

The Hume Riverina Community Legal Service runs its Invisible Hurdles project from our building. It provides legal help for young people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, family violence in North East Victoria.

The STAR Program supports people of all ages at risk of losing private rental housing by providing early intervention, tenancy support, and practical assistance to sustain tenancies and prevent homelessness.

Better Futures / Home Stretch (BF/HS)

15.9–21, care leavers. Referrals from DFFH

Better Futures/Home Stretch supports young people aged 15.9–21 who have been in care to transition to independence, providing case management to help them achieve their goals, with referrals from DFFH and related services.

TAC L2P Learner Drivers

16–21, up to 23 in some cases

The TAC L2P Program supports eligible young learner drivers aged 16–21 (up to 23 in some cases) who do not have access to a supervising driver or an appropriate vehicle, helping them gain the driving experience needed to obtain a probationary licence.

Referrals from services and schools

Tell us what the young person needs and we will say which program fits and what happens next. Most programs take a referral from anyone, including the young person themselves.

Two exceptions. Adolescent Family Services – Finding Solutions takes referrals through Child Protection Intake only. Better Futures / Home Stretch and Targeted Care Packages come through DFFH and related services.
